I used to stress so much over how I was going to complete assignments, study for tests, and do projects all on time a few months ago. At times I overworked myself so much that I needed a long break which only took time away from completing those assignments. That much stress caused me stress acne :’). And for me that was when I decided that maybe it is best for me to have a better schedule and studying habits so I don't get burnt out and be my stress free self while completing all my school work. I researched and tried out multiple things and saw what worked for me and now I am compiling them in a list of 5 things I follow when studying!
1. Work in short bursts instead of long periods
Rather than working for long periods of time, such as studying for 4-5 hours straight, I prefer to work in short bursts. I'll work on a specific task for an hour, then take a 15-minute break before returning to work. This is similar to the pomodoro method, but adjusted to how long I can work for, and please feel free to adjust these times to your needs.
2. Put on some music
Personally, I'm not a fan of brainwave audios that help you study; I've never understood the point of them. I do, however, enjoy Bollywood songs, so I just listen to them! Listening to my favorite tracks while studying helps me stay focused. So put on whatever genre of music you're into and vibe to them while working on your science project!
3. Check it
It can be difficult to stay motivated when I have far too much work. It's easy to feel as if you're making no progress on what appears to be a mountain of homework. I like having an online checklist of what I need to do and checking off one item at a time gives me a sense of progress, which helps me stay motivated.
4. You work hard, reward yourself
"You work hard," is something I find difficult to accept when I don't believe I do, but rewarding myself keeps me motivated. These rewards do not have to be large. I usually just go to the fridge and eat whatever I want because I love food and am content to eat whatever I want as my reward. Eating something gives me energy to keep going because your body requires nutrition.
5. Create a schedule
Make a schedule; what is the most difficult to accomplish? What takes the most time? Make a list of everything you need to do in that study session, similar to a checklist, but start with the most difficult task first because once you're done with that big first step, everything else will be quick and easy, and you'll be done much faster.
Sincerely,
